Worst day ever...
Posted On 05/06/2007 10:09:02

So, I attended a barbeque that a co-worker had across town. I rode the “T” (Boston’s form of public transportation) there with no issues, even with a giant Tupperware full of freshly made potato salad. I really hate riding the T. Anyway, after a few hours (and a few drinks) I decided it was time to leave so I made my way to the T station and down a lengthy set of steps, with my hand on the railing the whole time (as I was somewhat tipsy from the party). As I was waiting for the subway to come, I looked down at my left hand and saw a ton of gross black dirt all over my fingers and palm. Assuming it was from the dirty railing on my way down to the subway and no means to clean it off at that time, I just told myself I’d wash it off as soon as I got home.

After riding the subway all the way from Somerville to Allston, I stopped at the liquor store on the way home to pick up some more beer and some stuff for a friend of mine before I headed over her place to watch a movie. As I was paying for these items, the girl ringing me up was like, “Honey, you have a lot of dirt on your face”. At this point, I started freaking out….shit…It must have been from that crap I touched on the way to the subway…that’s what I told her. She went to go get me a paper towel so I could wipe it off…and when I asked her if I got it all she was like, “um, no…it’s pretty bad…let me show you where the bathroom is.”

At this point, I was completely mortified. I raced up to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. It was bad. I mean really bad. And how long was all this stuff on my face??? It looked like I had a moustache and a beard. How many people saw me like that? I frantically got some soap and scrubbed it all off with tears in my eyes just thinking of how many people on the T saw it and probably laughed at me. God, I always hate riding the T anyway because of what I think people are saying or thinking about me…but now they actually had something to make fun of…
