a Rude Encounter
Posted On 09/21/2008 11:35:07 by mumblygirl2008

So my mom and I were shopping at Walmart the other day, and it was about to rain. We were just going to pick up a couple of items because our refrigerator was almost empty. Half-way through the entrance, my mom is pushing the cart through the vegetable aisle, and she hits a Tongan lady's cart from the side a little. The Tongan lady's cart was so close that it was hard to get through. I heard her yell "Bitch!", while my mom and I were already at the other side of the aisle. She came to face my mom at a distance. "Ma, I think she's talking to us." We turn around, and she says "DID YOU KNOW YOU HIT MY CART!?" My mom and I tried appologizing and saying we didn't see at first (because we didn't know what to say at the time...like her cart was too close). But the lady just kept yelling and cursing at us. So I felt I had to defend my mom, and she didn't want to take this crap either. "She didn't see! we're sorry!" -me  "I'm sorry I didn't see!"-mom.  "Why don't you open your eyes next time, BITCH?"-the lady "Well. S-orry."-me  "Don't call me bitch. You 817c# for yelling!"-mom. Her husband just kept staring at us as she went to the other side. SERIOUSLY. I know my mom shouldn't have bumped into her cart, but she wasn't blind. We saw her cart, but didn't think she'd get mad if we just squeezed a little ways in. Her cart was seriously closing up the way through the other end of the aisle. We didn't even hit her cart too bad, just like squeezed past it with a noticable, yet subtle sound. I don't know to explain it. Just hope you're all visually-oriented. hehe.

That lady could've approached us rationally, and although a little mad, try to be polite. Because who's going to listen to you if you treat them like a female dog? I don't like it when people automatically use cursing and confrontation to get people to listen.

Errr... you too? Man, customers are rude these days. Must suck for you to have to be the one to get into between their fights. This is the first time it's happened to my mom and me, but not my mom individually. She's a strong lady, and can take care of herself. Me- just another pushover who only wants to be nice to everybody ._. . I'm brave? LOL. I don't think the lady even heard me. She heard my mom though. You're the brave one for staying true to your position and job, man! Anyone who has to break up a fight and succeeds is my hero.

Wow sounds like a day at my job at the supermarket.LOL Most customers act like they are the only one in the store then when you take action they get pist. I am constantly relocating my self to prevent customers from fighting with each other.

One customer will just park her self (usualy females LOL) customers will just stop cart in middle of isle and go browsing. They act like they dont know they are in the way but unless they are blind common sense would tell you that there will be other customers going by.

Even my blind customers with their dogs don get in the way. Honestly I deal with this all day long and customers like that are not unusual. Some people are just misarable. You could of kissed their feet and and she still wouldn't of been satified. Some customer just bring their bad  vibes to the store.

You did the righ thing by fighting back but not letting things spiral out of control.  Some people are realy igronant and would shoot you for petty things like that but since you werent in the big city it was probaly a safe calculation.

You actualy were realy brave for some one with social anxiety.

Honestly, if you were there with us you wouldn't even think it was hitting. It was more like trying to get through when you're in a crowd. But it's good you would handle the situation that way. It was on my mom's mind allday, but now she's over it :)

Yikes!! Some people are really uptight.. I hope it didn't ruin your guys' day! This woman obviously had a lot of issues. Honestly, if someone hit my cart like that.. I would've laughed about it (unless well, it was intentionally done just to be mean I guess). Hang in there!

Yeah, it sucks to the rimcore, but it's nice to know not everyone is like that . Who knows? maybe that lady could have bad experiences in her life too.

Yeah, I can understand why she would get mad, but when somebody appologizes its better to just accept it. There's nothing much they can do.

Wow! It's sounds like this woman was just waiting for an excuse to go off. Unfortunately, it was you and your mom. Too bad it wasn't her husband. It's called an accident for a reason. She blew it way out of proportion. One day that lady's gonna go bezerk on the wrong person. Unnerving-you and your mom handled yourselves with class.
