82: My new bike
Posted On 07/19/2008 09:19:31 by millenniumman75

Well, I can now officially retire my 1985 bicycle.  No more out-of-control teens laughing at my ride - which was older than them and gave me NO CRAP.  I put over 3,500 miles on it (5,600 km) over the years, including about five where I didn't ride it at all!

I went to the bike shop where I used to get my old bike repaired to see if they had any good bikes.  The cheapest was $460 on sale!  I couldn't afford that with gas the way it is!   I then went to a sporting goods store.  Closer, but they didn't have a hybrid racing/mountain bike.  $220-250.

I finally went to the sporting goods store in a dying mall (where I normally get my clothing).  THE bike was hanging for the ceiling - a racing bike, BLUE (my favorite color - matches my car), and ONE SALE at $180!  I bought it!  I even talked to the salespeople and was forward - I made that a goal!

One bad thing - after trying to ride it, the rear tire kept going flat!

I took it in to the shop today, after they asked me to go to a store 20 miles away to get a new inntertube (they didn't carry it!).  They fixed it AND reimbursed me for the tube and the mileage.

It ended up costing me $180 after that (with tax, the bike was $190).

I have to pay my credit card now!

This whole thing -> <- I deserve these! :)
