addicted to cigerettes
Posted On 05/14/2008 08:40:34 by mindylou

My next challange will be to kiss my best friend in the world goodbye..my cigerettes! Oh I'll miss them.  But I know I have to nip this thing in the butt (pun intended) before they friggin kill me...because I smoke like a coked up phene due to all my anxiety lol. I'm going to try to put that anxiety toward something else like EXCERSIZE (can u imagine- throwing my body into shock like that?)

My hubby (who is normal and highly sociable) is an addict also. In the past we have tried to quit smoking in the most ridiculas fashion..we have hid cigs from eachother, gone running thru the house at full tilt with the "last precious" cig, and tackled or wrestled eachother laughing our arses off.  But I'm not giving up!  I have to set everything up for this ordeal however, so that i have ways of coping...first to clean my house spotlessly so that I wont be required to do as much, then for me, what seems to help is to work on jigsaw puzzles. (this requires planning.) I think doing puzzles helps me block out certain stressers and triggers.

I've done this before and know it will take me about a week or so before I start to get used to it...so I might not be on here for that week.  (i smoke whilst on the puter.) I'll announce it on a blog when I go to do this.

    Anybody else trying to quit?

Cigarettes are not only icky, but they're expensive!  My parents smoked throughout my childhood, and I suppose I can thank them for it because I have absolutely no desire to ever touch a cigarette.  My father quit when he had quadruple bypass surgery, and my mom quit shortly after.  They've both been smoke free for ten years now.

But I have to thank God because without him I could have never done it...I have a lot of anxiety and I thought how can I live without my cigarettes....and here I am all these years later....You can do it :) Don't give up!
