Dentist: does anyone have any irrational fears of this. I just came from there and I think it is the social part I hate and the waiting; waiting to be called back, waiting after they seat you, waiting for the anesthesia to take effect and so on. On, the very worst thing is that appointment on the calendar for weeks staring back at me.eom

yes it would be nice if u could switch the tables and make them "wait" as you open ur mouth ever so slowlyyy...lol.  I haven't seen a dentist in a long time just because its so gosh darned hard to get seen here. For appointments, I sometimes get anxious having my hair cut.  The girls are usually nice, chatty and the perky sort that u just know were popular in high school...I dont have much in common with those girls.  I can talk but i sometimes dont wanna..not knowing what to say next etc.

You can also think of it as knowing your teeth are in good shape.  The dentist knows there is some anxiety involved.

If I can survive a root canal, with tools I had never seen before including ones that glow in the dark, you can survive the dentist no problem! :)

Yeah, I'm the same way. Not long ago, a dental assistant asked if I wanted gas before they got started on a filling. I accepted the gas but only because the people made me anxious, not the pain.

Oh I have a fear of the dentist for sure but it's the pain that I fear!  I hate having the xrays done too, so uncomfortable.
