This morning when I woke up, I smelt something a little fishy - it was my fish. Poor Lefty, he was on his freshly-made death bed, which he'd laid out just that morning with an Egyptian cotton bedspread. It is now with a heavy heart that I wish to inform you all that Lefty passed away peacefully this afternoon. The original gang of goldfish has now had more members leave them than Destiny's Child.
No matter how hard I tried to get along with Lefty, he and I never seemed to be able to see eye to eye. Perhaps this was why...
He had no left eye, and his gill was malformed.
And please people for the love of cod adequately mark your pet's burial site with a tombstone - can you imagine how sickening it was to find that the spot where you were about to bury your goldfish was the same spot you'd buried your beloved budgie eight years earlier? Thank goodness we had the foresight to bury Tweety in a plastic Chinese take-away container so that I didn't completely unearth him.
God speed little Lefty, and may the next door neighbour's cat not sniff you out and dig you up like he did to Pearl.
"Oh Lefty... one so ugly was never meant for a world as beautiful as ours"
