I have an introverted personality so I keep to myself most of the time. There are only a few people who I'm completely comfortable around. My mom died when I was young and the woman my dad remarried was not kind to me at all. This is where most of my low self-esteem comes from I guess.

Since graduating from college last year, I've only had one short term temp job. I still live with my dad and would like to move out as soon as I'm able to. I would love to become a freelance writer/editor so I could work from home. That's one thing I could do with my English degree.

Well, you can expect up to 20 people in the SAB meetup. By the way, I read in a recent business magazine that the U.S. State Department mainly hires English/liberal arts majors. Most start as interns. Perhaps that is of interest to you.

Yeah I'll probably be able to make it. I'm already a member of a social anxiety meetup group down here but I've only been to a couple meetings. They have us do exercises to get us out of our comfort zone like practicing small talk. Does this group do stuff like that?

Not sure. I've only been to one of their meetups. We didn't do any formal exercises that time. But people naturally practice small talk when they interact w/ each other. How many members are in the SD group?

Ace, thanks for joining the group. Since you're down in Del Mar, how far would you be willing to drive for a meetup? There's a Social Anxiety Busters picnic coming up at the end of September. It's in Irvine (about an hour away). You should join us.

I work part-time as a free-lance internet marketing consultant. What do you have a degree in? The SAS gathering was in '04 (over 4 years ago!). I haven't kept in touch with anyone from the gathering either.
