Alien, Brazil (and most Terry Gilliam), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Sin City, Bride of Frankenstein, Jason and the Argonauts, Jaws, the Jerk (you da man, Steve!), Pan's Labyrinth, the Dark Crystal, Fargo, Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz, Die Hard, Sergio Leone westerns, the Wicker Man, Suspiria, Bubba Ho-Tep, Clockwork Orange, John Carpenter movies (the Thing, Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China), or anything with Vincent Price or Christopher Lee in them...and unfortunately, I still have an unholy love for the Star Wars trilogy. Childhood habits die hard.

All kinds of stuff. I usually just put something on while I'm drawing or what-have-you.

A Confederacy of Dunces (John Kennedy Toole)
Gormenghast (Mervyn Peake)
The Once and Future King (T.H. White)
Dune (Frank Herbert)
His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman)

Anything by Philip K. Dick, Robert Silverberg, Ursula LeGuin, Michael Moorcock, Michael Chabon, or Christopher Moore. And Timothy Zahn's Star Wars novels. I'm also a big fan of comics, comic strips, and graphic novels. Just ask.

Currently reading:
Greenmantle (Charles de Lint)

I think I'm an okay enough guy. I recently moved, which has put a dent in my social life. I like pets, but don't have any. I've been told I make good chicken fettucine.

Other than that, I'm at a point in my life where I've finally forcing myself to quit wasting it, so I sincerely hope there's still time to salvage what's there. On the positive side of things, I am returning to college this summer, in hope of getting out of retail hell permanently and returning to social work (nothing wrong with doing something that's actually meaningful and helps people rather than focusing on personal advancement, right?).

I have OCD, which probably led to my social anxiety...everything else can probably be blamed on mischief-making gremlins. I don't enjoy it when people label themselves by their mental quirks, but I do have my share.

I feel more comfortable around people who are generally honest and open about who they are, or just don't spend that much time thinking about it (which I aspire to). People who go to Renaissance Faires are usually pretty cool.

Arrogant, pretentious hipsters kind of cheese me off. Much as I like my new town, it's crawling with 'em (they spawn around college campuses). The best way to be "unconventional" is not to think about it, which is pointless and self-centered. I mean, I can see doing that stuff in high school or what-have-you, but when you're an adult it gets a little tiresome, unless you're doing that stuff because it feels right to you, in which case that's cool. Even though I like Star Wars, cartoons, and video games, I also find a lot of self-professed "geeks" kind of wearying. Instead of actually doing stuff, they just accumulate gadgets and then act snide and snooty about people who don't throw out last year's electronics, because they aren't being financially supported by Mom & Dad. Older nerds are usually cooler, like the Klingons or the Renaissance guys who make swords and stuff. I like to think I'm open-minded politically.

filmmaking (currently not going anywhere), drawing/painting(former cartoonist wannabe),video games (mostly RPGs), Glow Golf (it's miniature golf that glows in the dark!), TV on DVD (which really shouldn't count as a hobby)-Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Heroes (some older shows I like include Futurama, the Simpsons when they were excellent, Star Trek, the X-Files, Arrested Development, the Prisoner, Spaced, Firefly, Saturday morning cartoons of yore, and SCTV-but I don't watch much TV anymore)
