I like reading, football; I support my local team Nottingham Forest, Formula One, cricket, taking photos, technology and watching a lot of movies. I have always had a big interest in computers (especially Apple) and I studied computing at college.

I like games too, these days I mostly play on my Nintendo DS :)

Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Taxi Driver, Fight Club, Rocky, Wall Street, The Godfather and Part II, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, The Matrix, Citizen Kane, The Great Escape, Reservoir Dogs, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Beverly Hills Cop, Collateral, Pi, Meet the Parents, The Usual Suspects, Gladiator, Raging Bull, Snatch, The Italian Job (Original), Shawshank Redemption, Office Space, Ice Age, Casino, The Aviator, A Beautiful Mind, Dr Strangelove, The Green Mile, Lon, American History X, Heat, Memento, Rain Man.

TV Shows

Lost, Futurama, The Simpsons, Frasier, Top Gear, Hustle, Red Dwarf, QI, Have I Got News For You, Sopranos. Hmm a lot of those aren't made any more, maybe that's why I don't watch TV much these days.

Radiohead, Oasis, Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Feeder, Guns N Roses, Coldplay, Blur, Death Cab for Cutie, Interpol, Eels.

Mostly read non fiction. I have started reading Mario Puzo's The Godfather recently since I like the film so much. I also just finished Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi which I enjoyed a lot. Also Bill Bryson Notes From a Big Country, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Catcher in the Rye.

Games:

Civilization IV, C&C Red Alert 2, Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, Gran Turismo 4, Forza Motorsport 2, Half Life, Sim Tower, Transport Tycoon, Super Mario Bros series, Sonic, Phoenix Wright, Animal Crossing.

I'm 23 and live in England. I have always been very quiet and shy. I have been affected by social anxiety and depression for a number of years now and it has had a very bad effect on my life. In recent times I have become a lot more avoidant to escape from the anxiety of social interactions but I am trying hard now to overcome it.

Thought this could do with an update since it's been pretty much the same since I joined:

31/5/08

I'm applying to university. This is a huge step for me because I dropped out when I first went at age 18. I think I'm more capable now and even though SA is still a massive problem for me, I am ready to try and challenge it and stop it from holding me back and keeping me a recluse any longer.

Hopefully I can make some friends here who know what it's like to have SA and help anyone out if I can.

That's okay :)It's good you thought straight and got some help... I always find when I'm depressed the best thing to do is just tell somebody. I'm doing well, I also got a bit depressed a few days ago but I'm out of it now... I'm just trying to make myself think the things I get upset about aren't worth it.

hey i saw what you wrote in the shoutbox yesterday, I would have wrote this then but I was in a bit of a rush to go out so sorry about that ...I know when you're depressed it can be really hard to believe you won't ever feel better again but you will, it might take a little while it might take more but you will you never know what the future holds, just don't give up :)
