Too much sanity may be madness, but the maddest of all is to live life as it is, not as it ought to be!

Like I said, I mostly read non-fiction history. I'm interested in a lot of different subjects: Ancient Rome and Greece, American history, Latin American history, English history, Irish history, Russian history, Japanese history, general military history, etc. etc. When I read fiction, it's usually historical fiction.

I also enjoy some literature. Love Shakespeare, the Greek tragedians, Dostoevsky, Camus, Nietzsche.

Any book that can take me to the heights of human inspiration, or to the depths of humanity's suffering, is always good.

Well, I suffer from social anxiety and depression, and both have gotten very bad and have really screwed up my life. That, and a rather bad emotional breakdown a few years ago left me almost at rock bottom--I won't say that I WAS at rock bottom, because I believe that however bad thing are, they can always get worse. Anyway, these days are going much better, medication has helped with the depression, and I've found a place that will help me get ready to get a job. But it seems like there is still so far to go. But at least, finally, things are looking up.

Hi Augustus,
Saw your recent blog post and thought you may need someone to talk to. If you get bored, send me an IM. Don't have a lot of advice to give but I can always listen.
Take care,
Jas
