Welcome to my SAF page!

I'm 32 yrs old and I have had SA/GAD since I was a child . It wasn't until I was 18 that I really knew more about anxiety. I spent years reading books on generalized anxiety disorders and social anxiety disorders and educated myself on the subject. I had some therapy over the years and I once met a few times in a support group at a rec. center. There I met people like me. I didn't really stick with it though. I'm still reading and researching anxiety disorders online and also searching tips on how to change my thinking. I know I cannot reason myself out of SA/GAD but I can have a better attitude at how to deal with it.
Some days are not so bad-other days I just want to hide away from everyone. Somehow I survive in this world! There are some things worth living for in life and that's my aim. I have an extreme self-consciousness and I don't like to be in my front yard very much. I feel like everything I do is the "wrong" way to do something. I can be working on something in the yard and I think that maybe people think I should do it differently. I find it hard to walk down the sidewalk or exercise and do the things I enjoy to do without constantly feeling like am being watched or spied on. Social anxiety is truly a dibilitating disorder and needs some form of CBT/out-patient therapy and also working to take control of our thoughts. Some self-help book are a good idea as well.

I like to spend time on my hobbies to keep my mind busy and off my problems. I also believe I am a hyper-sensitive person, mainly in an emotional way and it affects my anxiety much of the time.

Your Social Anxiety Level: 64%

You have high social anxiety.

You have a pretty serious social phobia, and it effects your life more than you may realize.

It's possible that you've made yourself comfortable by avoiding situations you dread.

But don't be fooled - you still probably need professional help.

Beautiful yet dangerous

People will stop and watch you when you appear

Even though you're capable of random violence

You are best known for: your power

Your dominant state: performing

One's best success comes after their greatest disappointments...

People who are supportive of me and my SA/etc. I've come to realize that people who accept you for who you are (bundle of nerves and all) are truly sincere people who are accepting and compassionate.

Other SA people who can relate to me.

A NICE FIRE TO CURL UP NEXT TO!

People who don't want to understand anxiety disorders. They really don't care. Those same people like to tell a person what to do-not understanding these disorders. Sometimes they think you should just tough it out and 'get out there'. That a person should just push themselves into it. It doesn't work that way for me.
I also hate loud noices, crowds of people. People who laugh way too much-too loudly. The daily hustle and bustle of life, loud noisy passing cars/trucks.
Other turn offs:
bullies
nosey people
snobs
show offs
extremely violent/dirty movies
gun shots

Hi,
Love your new background and the music. Very relaxing. I hope your week is going well. Mine hasn't been too bad.My anxiety has been behaving rather well this week. The weather has been very warm and sunny in Ireland for over a week now so I guess this has had a part to play too :-)

Well, they do have speed walking. I remember doing up to three miles at one time. If you swing your arms up high enough, it's almost like you are skiing. There is some heavy fat-burning going on! I once thought about using one or two pound dumbbells, but after walking for such a distance, it would be too much

I say - DO IT! step on SA!

Just dropping by to say hi. It's a bank holiday weekend in Ireland so I hope to get out and take some snaps. Hopefully the weather will stay fine :-)

Eh, it'll show up as high turnover. She'll be in trouble with her managers. I am so glad you got away from it. I gasped when you told me you had gone back. I didn't want to tell you, but I knew it wouldn't last the second time around.

A huge factor in overcoming SA is having good boundaries and sticking to them. :)
